Gameweek 16 Review by Sol.O #13
Gracebandy! (7) V (5) KLIUC Griffin

Coach: Dennis
Goalie: Edmond W
Defenders: Gerard, Uza, TK, Sol.O
Centers: Kim Sui, Kendrick
Forwards: Edwin, Sheeda, Jia Ming, Joo Minn, Philip

Scoreline: 0-3, 3-5, 7-5
This is our first game having Dennis to coach at the lines and brought to the team two simple advices: intensity and keeping tight. Having lost the first leg earlier in the league, the team walked into the rink with retribution in mind. Griffin has been a much different team and grew some teeth in their attacks. They proved their prowess by putting the goal in first, then a second and a third in first period. We couldn’t reply as there weren’t many chances in firing. Not to mention the Griffin keeper has been fantastic the whole time.

Dennis made some corrections to the team and we could see instant results by keeping Griffin from free scoring by cutting their space and produced 3 goals through Sheeda and a Kendrick brace. Sheeda’s goal came as a response to the fourth goal from Griffin and that reignited the fighting spirit. Kendrick has been working hard through the centre and deserved that second goal. His celebratory toss of the stick into the air was inimitable, a spur of relief. Griffin tried to dampen the momentum by putting one more past Edmond but Kendrick replied quickly with his second goal of the night packaged with that celebratory toss of his which is becoming of a trademark.

Going into the final period, Dennis sensed that Griffin would increase the pressure to shut us down. His countermeasure is to increase our intensity further. With those simple words, we gave our all and turned the first 5 minutes of the period into a nightmare for Griffin who has been leading the score line. Sheeda again led the arsenal by scoring first. Joo Minn joined in the parade by slotting in the equalizer. He later added more hurt by adding another goal to his tally and we are now giving the lead. We slowed down the game and be more careful not to let Griffin back in the game. While Griffin was pouncing for ball possession, Philip buried their hope and placed the cherry on the cake with a clean shot into Griffin’s net. The last 5 minutes of the period was most intense and when the final whistle came, Gracebandy took all 2 precious points and received our revenge.
