gracebandy!Co post-league gathering

By Billy Chuah

It's been a whole since we Gracebandians have gathered together and have a makan time, sharing and caring for each other. This BBQ party would have been a success if our whole team member could've been present with us. Nevertheless, it was an awesome time to keep in touch with each other, bonding the relationships of those that were there to a better state.

Special thanks to Edmond, our chef of the day, for preparing such good food for us. Indeed, it was a 5 star class beverages that were served and prepared in such manner that even as am writing this, can't stop thinking bout the home-made patties, the marinated lamb and chick wings, Edmond's own recipe of the beef stew, the undeniably yet child approved mashed potatoes and the coleslaw. Not forgetting, Dorcus' mum for preparing the Mee hoon as well. Thank you aunty!  kudos to both of them for well-feeding us on that gracious night.

In the later part, we had the award winning ceremony, having the best players to receive their awards, signed by Gerard, though he had to take it back at the end of the event as he has forgotten to sign it beforehand. Haha! Having awards like most goals scored, best player, and best keeper of the season, man, this is indeed a pleasure time, though it is just between the few of us.

Overall, this party was a pretty well done event, though it would've been better if we could all, as in the full members of Gracebandy!Co floorball team, to be present. This would definitely bring our team closer, caring and sharing for each other more than just teammates, but as a family.

But, as usual, good times have to come to an end after all. Some of us managed to tapao the delicious fried Mee hoon back..hehe. Most importantly, thank God for bringing us together, and sending us all home safely. Til the next event we shall meet again.

Gameweek 16 Review by Sol.O #13
Gracebandy! (7) V (5) KLIUC Griffin

Coach: Dennis
Goalie: Edmond W
Defenders: Gerard, Uza, TK, Sol.O
Centers: Kim Sui, Kendrick
Forwards: Edwin, Sheeda, Jia Ming, Joo Minn, Philip

Scoreline: 0-3, 3-5, 7-5
This is our first game having Dennis to coach at the lines and brought to the team two simple advices: intensity and keeping tight. Having lost the first leg earlier in the league, the team walked into the rink with retribution in mind. Griffin has been a much different team and grew some teeth in their attacks. They proved their prowess by putting the goal in first, then a second and a third in first period. We couldn’t reply as there weren’t many chances in firing. Not to mention the Griffin keeper has been fantastic the whole time.

Dennis made some corrections to the team and we could see instant results by keeping Griffin from free scoring by cutting their space and produced 3 goals through Sheeda and a Kendrick brace. Sheeda’s goal came as a response to the fourth goal from Griffin and that reignited the fighting spirit. Kendrick has been working hard through the centre and deserved that second goal. His celebratory toss of the stick into the air was inimitable, a spur of relief. Griffin tried to dampen the momentum by putting one more past Edmond but Kendrick replied quickly with his second goal of the night packaged with that celebratory toss of his which is becoming of a trademark.

Going into the final period, Dennis sensed that Griffin would increase the pressure to shut us down. His countermeasure is to increase our intensity further. With those simple words, we gave our all and turned the first 5 minutes of the period into a nightmare for Griffin who has been leading the score line. Sheeda again led the arsenal by scoring first. Joo Minn joined in the parade by slotting in the equalizer. He later added more hurt by adding another goal to his tally and we are now giving the lead. We slowed down the game and be more careful not to let Griffin back in the game. While Griffin was pouncing for ball possession, Philip buried their hope and placed the cherry on the cake with a clean shot into Griffin’s net. The last 5 minutes of the period was most intense and when the final whistle came, Gracebandy took all 2 precious points and received our revenge.

I know we will become...

This best summarizes what I have to say to you guys. Don' t give up. We will get there. I believe in all of you.

Look me in the eye
It's OK if you're scared
So am I
But we're scared for different reasons
We are scared of what we won't become
And they are scared of what we could become

Look at me
I won't let myself in where I started
I won't let myself finish where I began
I know what is within us
Even if you can't see it yet

Look me in the eyes

We have something more important than courage
We have patience
We will become what i know we are

WINNERS...

"I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." Matt 17:20

Last training before the league starts!

Hey All!

How have you all been doing? Ready to face the league? Hope you guys have been practicing lots just like I've been.

First and foremost, please accept my apologies for not updating the blog for 2 weeks already. Occupied with exams and work. End years are not rosy times.

Aaanywaysss, training is on this week at the Sec U12 court on Sunday, 12/12/2010 from 3-5pm and probably extend after that since this will be the last training before the league starts.

For those that have yet to clear their jersey and league entrance fee of RM100 kindly proceed to do so as I have ordered the last batch of jerseys and they should be arriving in a weeks time so the faster you clear, the easier it is to settle the payments with the printers.

Also, for those who have yet to pay their RM40 annual fee to SFA which Jolynn will be collecting for the last time on Sunday kindly do so in order to avoid any problems when the league starts. Hopefully you can play in the league without any lame technicality problems like not clearing your fees with SFA yet.

OK-lah. I think this is it. Adios and see ya on Sunday!

Floorball forever!
